THE COMPANY’S SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
Falkeid Shipping AS is dedicated to securing the safe, efficient transportation of cargo while prioritizing the well-being of our personnel and the protection of the environment. We achieve this through the following commitments:
Safety Policies:
- Skilled Crew and Training Emphasis: We prioritize skilled crew members with comprehensive training to prevent accidents and incidents caused by human error and mitigate targeted cyber-attacks.
- Continuous Improvement: We continually improve our systems and procedures, including robust risk assessment processes, to prevent accidents, incidents, and health hazards for both our employees and customers.
- Compliance with Regulations: We adhere to all mandatory rules, regulations, and guidelines recommended by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), flag states, and our Class Society.
- Working Conditions and Environmental Protection: We implement procedures and routines to enhance working conditions and protect the environment.
- Evaluation and Emergency Response: We conduct regular internal audits, Master’s Reviews, and Company Reviews to evaluate our ISM manual We also maintain emergency response plans managed by Nautilus Sjø A/S for 24/7 contingency preparedness.
- Implementation and Maintenance: We ensure the consistent implementation and maintenance of our safety and environmental policies both onboard vessels and at our office premises.
- Living and Working Conditions: We control crew living and working conditions through class agreements, ISM compliance, and direct advice, motivation, and training to maintain safe workplaces.
- Employee Engagement in Environmental Protection: Through training and cooperation, we encourage active engagement in environmental protection to prevent pollution and minimize environmental damage from our operations.
- Injury Prevention and Accident Reduction: We aim to prevent injuries and reduce accidents by better planning of daily routines and implementing a non-conformity system with analysis and corrective actions.
- Responsibility and Quality Assurance: Every employee is responsible for their own safety and the company’s interests, ensuring the delivery of quality services and maintaining a stable and safe workplace.
- Alcohol and Drug Policy: The use of alcohol and/or illegal drugs is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate dismissal and reporting to the authorities.
- Communication and Information: We communicate important management information, policies, and reminders through occasional company circulars sent to vessels.
Environmental Policies:
- Minimizing Environmental Impact: We strive to minimize environmental damage and pollution from our operations, ensuring a professional implementation of our activities to protect the environment and materials.
- Reducing Carbon Emissions: We commit to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and our ecological footprint through fuel-efficient operations, the adoption of eco-friendly technologies, and renewable energy sources.
- Waste Management: We implement effective waste management procedures to prevent waste discharge into the sea, optimize recycling, and proper disposal in compliance with MARPOL regulations.
- Ballast Water Management: We adhere to ballast water management regulations to prevent the transfer of invasive species and minimize ecological impacts.
