Transparency Act Statement – Reporting Year 2025
About Falkeid Shipping
The shipping company, Falkeid Shipping AS, owns vessels and purchases crew services from its sister company, Falkeid Management AS. Both Falkeid Shipping AS and Falkeid Management AS are wholly owned by Falkeid & Sønner AS. This statement has been issued by and applies to Falkeid Shipping AS, which is the only company within the group subject to the requirements of the Norwegian Transparency Act.
The company has its headquarters in Finnøy municipality and employs 25 people.
Falkeid Shipping provides freight services with vessels in the dry bulk segment, primarily in the self-discharging market. The company operates mainly in the European market, with customers and suppliers primarily based in Norway or Europe.
The board holds the ultimate responsibility for ensuring that the company complies with the requirements of the Transparency Act. Operations Manager Lawrence P. Falkeid has been assigned the overall responsibility for conducting due diligence assessments and ensuring that both employees and suppliers are familiar with the company’s ethical guidelines.
Ethical Guidelines and Human Rights
Falkeid Shipping has developed ethical guidelines for employees, board members, and individuals acting on behalf of the company. These ethical guidelines provide an overview of what the company considers responsible and ethical business practices, placing personal responsibility on employees through general principles and specific requirements.
The guidelines have been communicated to all employees via the company’s ship management system.
The guidelines also require employees to report any violations of the company’s ethical guidelines, fundamental human rights, or the right to decent working conditions, whether internally or within the company’s suppliers or business partners. The guidelines specify how employees should report concerns and how such reports will be handled.
Requirements for Suppliers
Falkeid Shipping also imposes requirements on its suppliers to ensure they perform their work in compliance with legal requirements, regulations, and Falkeid Shipping’s ethical guidelines. Suppliers are required to notify Falkeid Shipping if they uncover actual or potential violations of fundamental human rights, decent working conditions, or any other breaches of Falkeid Shipping’s ethical guidelines, whether within their own operations or those of subcontractors. Suppliers must also report if they identify or suspect such issues within Falkeid Shipping or its broader supply chain.
The guidelines are, and will continue to be, communicated to suppliers during the procurement of goods and services.
Negative Impacts and Significant Risks of Negative Impacts
To date, no actual negative impacts or significant risks of negative impacts have been identified within the company’s own operations, its supply chain, or among Falkeid Shipping’s business partners during the 2025 reporting period.
As part of safeguarding the rights of seafarers, Falkeid Shipping and Falkeid Management comply with the requirements of the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) on all vessels, irrespective of whether personnel are permanently employed or engaged on a temporary basis.
Falkeid Shipping has maintained long-standing relationships with its other suppliers and benefits from close cooperation and open dialogue with them.
A high number of subcontractors has been identified within the supply chains of certain suppliers. These suppliers are actively working to reduce the number of subcontractors in their supply chains. Falkeid Shipping will continue to monitor and follow up on the progress of these initiatives.
Several of Falkeid Shipping’s subcontractors are shipyards where the risk of occupational injury is not insignificant. These suppliers are therefore assessed as presenting a medium level of risk. The shipyards in question maintain sound health, safety and environmental (HSE) procedures, and Falkeid Shipping pays particular attention to ensuring that these procedures are adhered to during visits to the yards. Falkeid Shipping will continue to monitor compliance with HSE procedures during such visits.
Due diligence assessments are conducted on an ongoing basis, and Falkeid Shipping will update this statement should there be grounds for making significant changes to its risk assessments.
